South Essex, Southend and Thurrock (SEST) SCITT is a partnership of four comprehensive schools, all of which have specialist school status. SEST uses two other schools, with specialist status, for teaching placements. The SEST SCITT programme began to train teachers in 2006 for the shortage subject areas of Design Technology, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages (French), and Science. The training course of 36 weeks is based on working in schools where the emphasis is placed on practical experience in the classroom. The partnership trains teachers for the 11-16 age range. On successful completion of the course you will gain QTS. Accreditation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is given by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).
