be able to communicate clearly and grammatically in spoken and written English and have obtained GCSE passes at grade C in English and Mathematics or an equivalent qualification; hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject; be equipped with foundation knowledge, understanding concepts and skills appropriate to teach the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 curriculum; be acquainted with the nature of the National Curriculum and current educational issues; be intellectually suited to secondary school teaching; vi) be committed to teaching as a career; be mentally and physically fit to undertake teaching; be free from disabling convictions or criminal offences; have suitable personal and attitudinal qualities for secondary school teaching such as an outward-going personality, stamina, determination, a sense of humour, dynamism, flexibility and a desire to work in challenging schools; have a capability in literacy, numeracy and ICT. |
