The programme is funded by the Training & Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and Trainee Teachers accepted are eligible for a mandatory LEA grant as well as a Training Bursary of £9000 paid in nine equal instalments. If you complete a postgraduate Initial Teacher Training course and take up an NQT position in a maintained school or non-maintained special school in England, you may be eligible to receive a one-off, taxable 'golden hello' payment of either £2,500 or £5,000 at the start of your second year of teaching, once you have successfully completed your induction period. ‘Golden hellos’ are available to eligible NQTs who have trained to teach the following subjects. The amount you receive will depend on the subject you are teaching.

Tuition Fees

South Essex, Southend, & Thurrock SCITT will be charging a tuition fee of £1285.00 for the academic year 2009-2010.  You may get some help with this fee.  For further information visit http://www.direct.gov.uk/, follow the links for Education and Training to the Student Finance page.  Further information regarding payment of the tuition fees will be available once a conditional place on the course has been offered.

South Essex, Southend, & Thurrock SCITT have no additional bursaries of their own to offer.

Validation
Accreditation is given by the Training & Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
